The Story

Joe Cortez IV, a proud San Antonio, TX native, began his journey into the music world at just 12 years old. From 2004 to 2014, he toured extensively across the U.S., performing as a drummer with numerous Texas artists and contributing to several well-known albums and singles.

After a remarkable decade on the road, Joe retired from touring in 2014 to prioritize his family and be more present for his children. During this time, he pivoted into the health and wellness industry, where he built a successful coaching business and participated in numerous motivational speaking events. This chapter of his life also marked the beginning of his reputation as the “shake guy,” a nod to his health-focused work.

In Fall 2022, Joe found a new creative outlet by assisting with weddings and events alongside his good friend, Emily Collier of Emily Events. His role soon expanded as he connected with several DJs, forming friendships and learning from their expertise. By Winter 2023, Joe had established Joe Co Productions, combining his lifelong passion for music with his knack for creating unforgettable moments.

Since then, Joe has built a stellar reputation in the industry, booking DJ gigs, covering events for his mentors, and delivering a professional touch with top-tier equipment, dynamic music mixes, and exceptional communication. His portfolio includes weddings, birthday parties, graduation celebrations, & corporate galas.

While the title of “DJ” may be a newer addition to his resume, Joe brings over 20 years of experience in music production and public speaking to every event. He is passionate about collaborating with clients and friends, old and new, to turn their dream events into reality.
